In software development, the documentation is the information that describes the product to its users. It consist of the product technical manual and online information (including online version of technical manual and help feature description). The term is sometimes used for source information about the product contained in design documents, detailed code comments, white papers and blackboard session notes.
Types of Documentation:
- Internal Documentation
- External Documentation
Internal Documentation: It is written in a program as comments.
External Documentation: It is written in a place where people who need to use the software can read about how to use the software. External documentation can be broken down into library documentation, which describes tools that a programmer can use, and user documentation, which is intended for users of an application.
